Make Mine Marvel or How I Learned To Assemble an Avenger

Marvel has announced the release date for one of the biggest crossovers they have ever done. No, Bendis will not be writing this, nor will the ever seemingly late Millar be at the helm, no, this time its the movie studio...

Iron Man 2 will be releaesd May 7, 2010
Spiderman 4 will be released on May 6, 2011
Thor will be released Jun 17, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America will be released July 22, 2011
The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012

Marvel had the following to say;

Paving the way for the production and release of The Avengers, Marvel announced today an adjusted release pipeline for its self-produced feature film properties that reflects the first time individual super hero characters and story arcs will be inter-woven and culminate in a multi-character motion picture.

A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2012.

“This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel’s movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum. It maximizes the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012″, said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios.

Today is a great, great day.

Essentials.

Avengers (comics)Image via WikipediaSo today is a very lazy day around the house so I've been sitting on my ass reading some old collections of comics that I have. One of the ones that is really good is the Avengers. It starts off when the team forms to take on Loki and and also has (in issue 4)the return of the star spangled avenger, Captain America. The only real problem that I have with the book is that they over explain everything.

Now I know that Stan Lee had the premise set up that the issue you were reading was someone's first issue somewhere. So they had to always have Tony Stark say something like "Lucky no one knows that billionaire playboy Tony Stark is really the Invincible Iron Man!" That can get on my nerves alot.

Same with Thor and Dr Donald Blake. Always talking about the fact that he would just have to strike his walking stick upon the ground and the Mighty Thor would come about.

I guess I just needed to post about something. Things aren't exactly going that great. I can't seem to find an artist for the comic that I want to write, and I seem to be running into a snag with the project I am working on with my friend. Not a bad snag, but more of a "I don't know exactly how to do this" kind of snag. Living in Wisconsin has kept me detached from the Hollywood World, so I don't know alot of the ins and outs. I'm trying to keep up. I really am.
