Thursday night I felt weird. You know how when you can just tell that sickness is coming? Well, thats how I felt. So I did everything I had to do before the inevitable struck. Then, as I was watching The Batman vs Dracula on YouTube - it struck. The chills. My fever was pretty bad. At that time we didn't know HOW bad because our thermometer is a piece of trash. Suffice to say that I was seeing things. That's pretty bad.
So the night became the dawn and things were semi ok. the only thing that really bugged me is my right leg, but i never bothered to look at it and find out why. I also was REAL weak. I'd get up to help mom and almost fall to the floor. So I didn't go grocery shopping, just paid a few bills and then ordered out, determined to go shopping the next day when I felt better. That day wouldn't come.
That night I was real sick and the family noticed that my right leg was REALLY discolored. From the ankle to the kneecap. Plus the fever had gotten worse and I was out in la la land again. So I made it to the ER and they wheeled me in and turns out by fever was that of a whopping 104 degrees. So it was determined I had a skin infection from a cut on my leg and needed to be admitted. So from about 12:45am that morning I was a guest of the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital System.
They had me on IV antibiotics and asprin for my fever and such. It was kinda cool to watch what I want and be in bed all day, but anyone would love that. Saw Pulp Fiction twice, as well as Grandma's Boy and South Park's Imaginationland, which was really really funny. The biggest movie find of the weekend came after a bit of trouble in the shower.
See, they wouldnt hook me up to the IV the whole time when I wasnt getting any meds, so I was able to go shower. During the course of the shower I got rather tired and weak. I hurried to the finish and got out. I dried myself best I could but had to put clothes on my wet body right before I collapsed onto the bed. I sat there for a moment and then drifted off to sleep. When I awoke, I turned the TV on to find Svengoolie on. Now this is a find in and of itself because usually he is only on digital cable up in Racine. So MeTV rules. Svengoolie was playing "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" a masterpiece.
So Monday comes and I get out of the hospital around 1:30 or so. Now I am going to have to walk with a cane for a bit, and put my leg up on some pillows. I'm also on some fancy pills, and I'm living. If you wanna call it that.
